Groups Of Interest

The Foundation is not the only group with an interest and investment in the paranormal and metaphysical. There are many other groups in existence who possess, use, or attempt to create anomalies, either for their own personal gain or for the protection of mankind. Some are rival organizations, some are splinter groups of the Foundation, and some are trusted associates of the Foundation.

In any case, it has been deemed necessary to create and distribute a brief on what agencies the Foundation knows about, and our stance towards them.

The Aegis Comission
Anderson Robotics
Global Occult Coalition (GOC)
Manna Charitable Foundation (MCF)
Promethean Labs. (PL)
Unusual Incidents Unit (UIU)

These are groups who have alliances, spoken or unspoken, with the Foundation. In some cases, the Foundation assists them, in others they assist the Foundation. While historically the Foundation has had few allies, recent times have forced it to negotiate more with others, who do a reasonable amount of good for the world with very little harm.

The Aegis Comission

Founded in the 1980s with support from both the Foundation and GOC, the Aegis Commission exists to both prepare countermeasures to ensure the defense of humanity in the event of widespread hostile extraterrestrial incursion, and to provide a unified diplomatic front for Earth in the event one should become necessary as the interstellar community takes more notice of us.

Anderson Robotics

Anderson Robotics experienced a substantial increase in sales as wars in the Middle East and South America created a higher demand for both prosthetics and autonomous soldiers. Following this, the Foundation reached an agreement with the organization, allowing them to sell technology that was essentially mundane through fronts and other avenues, in exchange for shelving various drone models and AIs. In the years that followed, the company has adopted a less hostile mindset, though whether this is an honest change of view or a manipulative maneuver is unclear.

Global Occult Coalition (GOC)

The GOC and Foundation have never been the best of friends, and have more than once nearly gone to war with each other. However, both have a vested interest in keeping the veil closed, and so they made up as best as they could to ensure that a Broken Masquerade scenario never comes to pass. Their part of the effort has been in actively pursuing other GOIs, as well as eliminating any would be “Superman” or otherwise publicly anomalous human.

Manna Charitable Foundation (MCF)

Manna Charitable has been given a wider berth by the Foundation than in the past, under an agreement that limits their usage of anomalous items, persons, and other phenomenon. Within these margins, they aid refugees and the downtrodden, though internally there is conflict over whether or not the Foundation is allowed to limit them at all.

Promethean Labs (PL)

After internal reformation, Promethean Labs gave a peace offering to the Foundation in the form of helping them establish various satellites, manned and unmanned. They currently devote most of their resources to either surviving on Earth after K-class events, or leaving Earth for other habitable or otherwise colonizable planets. This has escalated to the point that it is speculated they have a Mars base, although officially they deny having any off-Earth presence.

Unusual Incidents Unit (UIU)

The UIU has seen its caseload increase tenfold in the years since 1990, and was bowing under that weight until the GOC stepped in, funding the organization in an attempt to both influence its policy and relieve its own caseload. The UIU does what it can to shut down talk show mediums and other “gifted” humans, while also dealing with mundane criminal agencies that have gained access to the anomalous.

Central Insurgency (CI)
Children of the Scarlet King
Church of the Broken God (CotBG)
The Factory
GRU Division “P” (GRU-P)
Marshall, Carter, & Dark (MC&D)
ORIA
Sarkic Cults
The Serpent's Hand (SH)
Brookhaven Hospital

These following groups are actively hostile to the Foundation in their interactions, or indirectly hostile towards the Foundation in its efforts to maintain normalcy. With the world in a state of nigh-chaos, they are to be dealt with swiftly and decisively. Negotiation is actively discouraged.

Central Insurgency (CI)

The Central Insurgency has remained a dangerous threat to the Foundation, supporting rebels in South America and generally doing what it can to stretch Foundation and GOC resources, aiming to weaken the groups until they can no longer prevent them from tearing the veil and exposing the world at large to the truth. Their leadership remains secret, and hidden.

Children of the Scarlet King

The Children of the Scarlet King are a recently formed cult, devoted to worshipping and bringing into reality the aforementioned king. Little is known about their methods and whereabouts, although they seem to be mostly located within the United States. It’s speculated the cult is mostly made up of ex-Sarkic and COTBG cultists, but the reasons why said persons would join the cult is unclear.

Church of the Broken God (CotBG)

The Church has experienced significant issues as it entered the 21st century, with either sects abandoning the faith due to a lack of progress in reforming their god, or their coveted technologies, once revolutionary, now seeming commonplace. While there still are two main branches, Maxwellist and Cogswork, the two do not treat the Foundation equally. Maxwellists are generally left alone by the Foundation, provided they aren’t disruptive. The Orthodoxy, however, has attempted to attack the Foundation and its allies whenever possible, leading to a proportionate response that has left them weak.

The Factory

The Factory has embraced the digital age with open arms, creating new products and services and disseminating them over dubious websites, along with more practical means. Foundation efforts to suppress their outreach have become taxing, and a more permanent solution is being looked for.

GRU Division “P” (GRU-P)

Faced with the task of keeping the USSR together, the GRU-P has gotten increasingly clever, devising ways to both suppress and create anomalies instead of relying on found artifacts or anomalous persons. They have no reservations about using their anomalous personnel and equipment in the public view. It is speculated they are also currently working on anomalous means to protect Moscow, if not the country at large, from nothing less than a full on nuclear war.

Marshall, Carter, & Dark (MC&D)

MC&D remain a constant concern with the Foundation, as they continue to purvey anomalous artifacts and more. They often operate in areas it is difficult for the Foundation to reach, such as South America or the USSR. However, they currently struggle to get any traction in the United States and other Foundation/GOC-regulated areas, preventing them from growing even further.

ORIA

The Office for the Reclamation of Islamic Artifacts, a recent player in the field of the anomalous, has proved to be a difficult enemy for the Foundation to fight due to its political ties, and worrying strength. While in concept, the office answers to the leader of Iran, it is presently speculated the relationship may now work the other way, with the organization effectively leading the country. This is seemingly corroborated by a more open use of anomalously-derived weaponry, and the seemingly endless funding for the organization.

Sarkic Cults

Sarkic ideology has found a foothold in wartorn countries, disseminated by missionaries sent from what the Foundation speculates is a kind of “nest” located in [DATA EXPUNGED], which is attempting to spread its influence through unknown means. However, in the area of Neo-Sarkcism, many followers have left the faith for unknown reasons, some citing a lack of interest, others a change of faith. Regardless of their origin, Sarkic cultists and their activities are to be dealt with swiftly and immediately.

The Serpent's Hand (SH)

The Serpent's Hand has not been seen actively operating in any capacity since the 1990s, and any reports that they have are either falsified or misidentified. They are gone.

Brookhaven Hospital

An exceptionally powerful anomalous entity or entities presumed to be an amalgamation of human pain and suffering, the Hospital is now mostly dormant. At the peak of its activity in the 1950's the Hospital frequently manifested hospital buildings on at least 6 Foundation sites around the world which were extremely hazardous due to their mind affecting abilities, hazardous construction and production of various hostile creatures. The Hospitals general mode of operation is spontaneously generating thousands of creatures at a time, and also using captured civilians, Foundation staff and others to make additional creatures. Heavily emotional in nature, the Hospital has always reached out to emotionally vulnerable individuals and locations. No leadership is known, and it is presumed that it does not have one, though it does possess a form of avatar which has not been seen for decades. Isolated Hospital entities remain in various Sites containment suites around the globe. The GOC has also reported contact with Brookhaven Hospital over the years. It is currently unknown if the Hospital will re-awaken.

Are We Cool Yet? (AWCY?)
Dr. Wondertainment
Herman Fuller's Circus of the Disquieting
"Nobody"

These groups, while not actively hostile to the Foundation, are to be monitored and watched. Whenever they threaten normalcy, measures are to be taken to stop them. When opportunities arise to negotiate they are to be taken, purely to reduce the influence of said groups.

Are We Cool Yet? (AWCY?)

The anart group “Are We Cool Yet?” has always remained a vexing presence in the anomalous world, being both a threat to normalcy but also too disorganized and spread out to do any serious work. In the internet age, their influence has begun to spread to websites and image macros. The Foundation is monitoring these efforts, and all others.

Dr. Wondertainment

The mantle of Dr. Wondertainment has “officially” been passed to his daughter, and the toy company remains at large. While their products still are immediately recalled by Foundation efforts, some smaller work they do has been intentionally ignored, such as efforts to give toys of limited anomalous capability to refugee children.

Herman Fuller's Circus of the Disquieting

While the “Circus of the Disquieting” is not new, it only recently managed to grab Foundation attention as it has become increasingly advertised and larger, making it harder for the Foundation to suppress them and maintain the veil. Rumors abound that they are being funded by the Central Insurgency, but until this can be proved a non-aggressive approach is being taken towards them.

"Nobody"

Records indicate that an individual known as "Nobody" has approached several Foundation agents while on missions. Nobody knows what their purpose is, what their motive is, or if they're real or simply a figment of an agent's imagination.
