Riley McCormick

Player: Cocoa

Profession: Containment Operative

Demeanour: Straightforward and strictly focused, but personal, when on duty. More easygoing when off-duty, even to the point of being a bit of a prankster and hooligan, though she stops short of doing actual harm or breaking whatever rules she's working under.

Nature: Riley is largely as she appears. However, she also worries about becoming overconfident as a result of her skills and anomaly, as as such underestimates her own abilities and constantly pushes herself to try to be better for the sake of her teammates and the people she protects.

Description: Riley is a 5'7" woman in her mid-twenties of mixed caucasian descent. She has wavy, shoulder-length auburn hair that is most often pulled back in a military bun. Her build is a little on the athletic side, but not enough to indicate her real strength. When not in uniform, her clothes tend towards the modest and comfortable.

Background History

Riley grew up the rough-and-tumble middle child of five in a family with a long history of military service. In high school she played women's rugby and made quite a good athletics showing.

After high school, she could have made it into college on sports scholarships. However, like many young Americans at the time, she was caught up in a wave of patriotic fervor and enlisted to help fight the communist threat, with the intent to complete her education after her service. Her medical anomalies were first noted during physical screening for the marines, though they weren't considered enough to disqualify her from serving, and at the time the Foundation and GOC determined that they were within the acceptable limits of human mutations that she didn't pose a threat to the veil.

After completing training, Riley's unit was deployed to South America to fight pockets of the Colombian FARC. It went… about as well as could have been expected, all things considered. Well, right up until her unit was ambushed by insurgent forces armed with destructive, anomalous weaponry. They lost a few too many good men that day.

Strangely, though, the weapons did little more than give Riley a bad sunburn, which was a godsend for the survivors and let them turn things around just long enough to escape. Once the extent of her invulnerability became apparent, Riley was approached by the Foundation with an offer to serve her country — and her world — in a different way. She's been working for them ever since.
